Splitting .GLF (Golfer Result) Files FILE: FT.HLP
Splitting result files can be done using the Combine/Split Facility.
The purpose of this is to allow analysis of any part of a .GLF file
as a separate period.
For example, let's say that you have been maintaining your history
in one big file for the entire 1987 season. Now that it's July, you
wish to look back over the season to see how you have been playing.
Suppose you want to see how May compares to June and those two
compare to July? This is where file splitting comes in.
Splitting makes two files from one. The split file may be split
again and again as long as there are more than one round in the
file. For example, you could split a file containing the 1987
season once and end up with one file having July to present and
the second file having everything previous to July. The second
file could then be split again to isolate June. This process can
continue until all of the necessary time periods have been isolated.
One way around having to split files would be to maintain each
period in a separate file. Good historical analysis takes just a
little bit of planning but is worth all the time spent.
